My amazing friend Charlie gave me some homemade sugar scrub for my birthday last year and he told me that a friend of his made it and it was the nicest scrub I had ever used. I asked him to ask her what she used in it and I did a little research online for some recipe ideas and this is what I came up with that works best for my skin. After the first time I used it I noticed a huge difference in the quality of my skin, it was noticeably softer, smoother and brighter. It not only exfoliated but moisturized my skin extremely well. I find myself using it in the bath about once a week and then more often in the winter when my skin is drier. I have the best results using it on wet skin and just rising with warm water and letting the oils soak in over night. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Lavender Lemonade Sugar Scrub
- White Sugar
- Coconut oil
- Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil or Olive Oil
- Lemon Essential oil
- Dried Lavender petals
So this is not a “recipe” exactly but more of a guideline. The first thing I do is get the container that I want the scrub to be in when it’s finished so something that won’t break in the tub, I use a tupperware container with a lid and usually 1.5 cup size. Fill the container with the sugar about a quarter inch from the top for measurement and then empty into a mixing bowl. Add a couple of scoops of coconut oil to the empty container, the coconut oil will be solid so you will need to heat it into liquid so you can mix it into the sugar. I usually heat it up for about a minute in the microwave. Once the oil is in a liquid form add in some of the other oils, the other oil and essential oil, the measurements on these all depend on your skin and how you like it. Then add the lavender petals to the oil and then pour the oils over the sugar and mix. I have found the best consistency for my skin is like a damp sand not sloppy oily but not too dry either somewhere in the middle, you can keep adding oils to get it just right. You might want to play with it for a while and experiment until you find your perfect consistency. I have found that this is not only extremely cheap but also so beneficial for my skin. It also makes a great gift that I have found people love. I hope you enjoy it!
